Board of Directors
The Board of Directors' primary purpose is to provide oversight and direction for FCTG’s executive team. The board is responsible for setting the rover strategic direction, approving important decisions and providing guidance to the business. The board also ensures the FCTG is operating responsibly and ethically while fulfilling legal and financial obligations.
Graham Turner, appointed to the FCTG board in 1995, started his career as a vet before entering the travel industry by investing in a budget double-decker bus travel company in 1973 with a friend in London. He later sold this business and focused on developing Flight Centre from a small chain into a major public company.
Robert Baker, appointed as a non-executive director in 2013, formerly an audit partner at PriceWaterhouseCoopers. He holds positions in various organizations, including Chairman of Goodman Private Wealth Ltd and other committees.
John Eales, appointed in 2012, is a former rugby player and co-founder of the Mettle Group, later acquired by Chandler Macleod. He holds several board positions and is involved in leadership consulting. He also writes for The Australian Newspaper and has authored two books.
Appointed in 2018, Colette Garnsey has had a 40-year career in retail, marketing, and distribution, holding senior roles at notable retail firms and advisory positions on government and non-profit boards.
Kirsty Rankin, appointed in 2022, is an entrepreneur with experience in customer loyalty programs and digital transformation. She has held CEO roles, including at Pinpoint Pty Ltd, and is a non-executive director at several organizations.
Gary Smith has been the non-executive Chairman since 2007, with extensive experience in the tourism industry and various directorial positions in related organizations.
Senior Executive Team (X-Team)
Our X-Team are responsible for implementing the strategic direction of the company. The team consists of senior-level executives representing each pillar of FCTG including Leisure, Corporate and Supply. Responsible for driving growth and profitability, managing risk and executing long-term plans to the FCTG’s success and sustainability over time.
Graham Turner, CEO since 1995, began his journey in the travel industry after a career as a vet, co-founding a budget travel operation in Europe, North Africa, and Asia with a converted bus. This venture evolved into the Flight Centre Travel Group. Turner's leadership has seen the company expand from a small chain to a major public entity.
Adam Campbell joined FCTG as Chief Financial Officer in August 2015, previously serving as Australian CFO. His tenure has been marked by significant strategic and financial initiatives, alongside a period of cultural and environmental shifts within the company. Campbell is committed to the evolving role of finance in corporate governance and innovation.
Starting his career in 1997 at Corporate Travel Partners, James Kavanagh moved to Flight Centre Travel Group, where he advanced from account management to becoming the General Manager of FCTG’s corporate division in Queensland by 2009. Later, he led FCTG's corporate brands and was appointed CEO of the global leisure business in 2022, contributing significantly to its growth.
Chris Galanty began at Flight Centre in 1997 as a Consultant and climbed up the ranks to become the CEO for Corporate. Overseeing operations across Europe, Middle East, and Africa, he now plays a crucial role in the global executive leadership, focusing on the corporate travel sector.
Greg has worked for Flight Centre Travel Group for more than 20 years in the company's air, product and supply businesses. Greg was announced CEO of Supply in January 2023.
Charlene Leiss, with FCTG since the acquisition of Garber’s Travel Service by FCM Travel Solutions in 2007, has held various leadership roles, most notably as President for corporate brands USA. Currently, she is the Managing Director for FCTG in the United States, overseeing the strategic direction in the Americas.
Steve Norris's career with Flight Centre began as a Store Manager in 2002. His career trajectory has included roles such as UK Marketing Director and General Manager, progressing to Managing Director of Corporate for Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Norris is a key figure in FCTG’s leadership, focusing on market expansion and operational leadership across diverse regions.
Bertrand is the Managing Director for the Flight Centre Travel Group in Asia, after being in the role of General Manager for FCM Asia since 2015. Bertrand started his career in the telecom industry in Europe working for Orange and then moved to the aeronautical giant Airbus to lead the sales and marketing department of their IT division. He held multiple global management roles within Amadeus, an IT leader of the travel industry before joining FCM.
Lincoln joined Flight Centre Travel Group in March 2023. Lincoln's career spans more than 25 years, with roles at large multinational resources companies such as BHP, South32 and Thiess. More recently, Lincoln has worked with Virgin Australia and Uniting Care Queensland.
Andrew Stark is the Global MD of Flight Centre Brand and has a 20 year career history with Flight Centre Travel Group in leadership roles across Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. As the MD of Middle East and Africa when the pandemic hit, Andrew, based in South Africa, was part of the executive leadership team tasked with guiding a global business through unchartered territory. In January of 2022 Andrew relocated his family to Australia in pursuit of his next leadership challenge. Following a government-mandated quarantine and with borders still shut, Andrew took on the newly created role of Global Managing Director for Flight Centre Brand, tasked with recovery and brand modernisation. Today, Flight Centre is recognised as Australia's most trusted travel agency* and has turned brand losses of $750m into record highs in 2024. *Roy Morgan Risk Report August 2024
Melissa brings an unrivalled understanding of best practice across multiple large market and small to medium enterprise industry sectors and their travel programs – helping to guide a team with a near-100 per cent retention rate of current customers. She proudly holds the title of Chief Operating Officer for Flight Centre Corporate globally, encompassing flagship businesses FCM Travel and Corporate Traveller, while also leading the ANZ region in the capacity of Managing Director of Corporate. Melissa drives responsible profitability and the continued growth and recognition of the flagship large market corporate division of the travel giant. This encompasses FCM’s government, corporate and academic specialisations, as well as FCM Meetings & Events and FCM Consulting, to name a few. She has spent the past 16 years with the Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) family, holding various senior leadership roles across Account Management, Operations and Sales, and working with both national and multi-national customers – she is a stalwart of the industry and highly respected among suppliers. Prior to joining FCTG, Melissa spent 10 years with Qantas across various consulting, internal and corporate sales roles, allowing her to build a foundation of corporate travel knowledge and a strong professional network. During her career, Melissa has led her teams to enormous success through inspiration, powerful vision and a genuine care for her people. She has received numerous awards for business profitability and improvement. Melissa is passionate about growing and developing rising talent and as a mother of two children, is an advocate for workplace flexibility, and is the living embodiment of FCTG’s ‘Brightness of Future’ philosophy.
Tom was appointed to the global MD position February 2022, having had three years at the helm of FCTG brands Corporate Traveller and Flight Centre Business Travel. As Global MD, Tom also oversees FCTG’s small to medium size enterprise (SME) corporate division in Australia. Corporate Traveller is worth an estimated $4.5B to the iconic global travel group. Having started in the FCTG business in 2002 as a consultant in the Flight Centre brand in the UK, Tom spent the next 20 years working across the company’s corporate and leisure divisions in both the UK and Australia, primarily in management roles. Before taking over Corporate Traveller globally, Tom spent 11 years in FCTG’s Australian leisure travel business as the Executive General Manager, and before that – Executive General Manager – Flight Centre Brand. Tom was part of the Australian relaunch of the Corporate Traveller brand in 2009 and as General Manager Corporate Traveller in the UK, he was also responsible for Flight Centre Business Travel. Under Tom’s leadership both Corporate Traveller and Flight Centre Business Travel experienced rapid growth and became key players in the UK corporate travel market. A strategic thinker and culture-oriented leader, Tom is an award-winning Executive General Manager with a passion for delivering consistent brand experiences for customers and engaging workplace environments for his employees. He has over 10 years of experience in global brand and culture management as well as product development at an executive level.
Starting her career as a chartered accountant with Deloitte, Dani joined Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) in 2000, where she held a number of senior executive roles in finance. She advanced to become General Manager of FCTG’s Corporate division in NSW and proceeded to lead all brands across the Corporate pillar. Dani transitioned into the Leisure division and has been instrumental in building and leading the Independent and Luxury pillars for the group. Now, as the Global Managing Director of Luxury and Independent brands, Dani leads a distinguished portfolio that includes Travel Associates, Scott Dunn, Envoyage, Link Travel Group, and the Luxury Travel Collection.
Joell has a career spanning over 35 years with Flight Centre Travel Group. Currently the Managing Director Emerging Brands, Joell has led a number of different brands and businesses under the FCTG umbrella.
